In the states

We are in Tampa Florida for 2 weeks seeing our son. We now know why we moved to Mexico. The good old USA is a very fast paced and expensive place to live. We have come to love the small town of Xcalak with it's slow pace and somewhat cheaper way of living. Sure the US has all the things to make life easy, with all the hardware stores and quick food. but after coming back here to see our son we now know that having the fast food makes us get fat fast. We have fast food in Xcalak you know this anytime you have to run down the food truck on the beach road. I know living in Xcalak I lost about 3 inch of my gut and being here in Tampa I put some of it back on. I will be so glade to get back to our little town. We miss our friends, our dog and bird, our way of life. It was good to see the USA again so I could know why I love Xcalak. Don't get me wrong I don't hate the USA I just love Xcalak.

Life at the end of the Rainbow

Well we have been in Xcalak now for over a year now. We have lived north of town, in town, and south of town. We after all the moving we have found that we still love it here. Up north of town we could stay naked 24/7 and as nudist that was great. In town we get the grocery trucks and the food stores and chicken night. Xcalak has as Disco now so we can go to the club as it is. When we stay down to the south of town we can get naked again but no grocery trucks. It is very quit and there are allot more animals to see. We do love all of Xcalak. It is just a great small town. I must say tho that the town lot we are living on in our trailer is so great. We have the Leaky Palapa down the street. Great food and great friends. All i can say about the girls is that they are the best. Our neighbors are great, we live on an ocean front lot. we can walk to anywhere in town or take my motto. We are a good ways from Playa Sonrisa our naked boccie club LOL. We do love to hang out with our friends there. But with season here they have guest to look after so we will spend more time there when season ends. This time of year we have allot of new friends that find there way to Xcalak and it is always nice to see new faces. We sit around the fire a chicken night and till tales of were we have been. There is nothing like sitting around a cape fire on the beach with new and old friends and great drinks. Yes life here in Xcalak is not fast paced but who needs fast paced. don't you think it is time to enjoy life? I do and i find Xcalak a great place to live life as it should be simple and slow.

Sorry I have not posted for a long time but I don't have Internet now. We have moved back to town and are now living in our trailer on a beach lot in town. We enjoyed our stay up the beach road but it is nice to be back in town. The beach road has take a toll on my Jeep. Living in town is nice we get to go to allot more party's and see our friends allot more. We don't get to stay naked 24/7 but I have so much work going on now that i would not have had an all over tan anyway. With Chicken Night open now there is a party every week. It is the season were everyone comes back to town. There is so much going on every week. It is just a good time to be in town. If you have never been to Xcalak this is the time of year to come. I will try to wright more soon

Rain rain rain

Well it is the season for rain here in Xcalak. With the rain comes the bugs. We went down to visit our friends at Playa Sonrisa Resort in hopes of getting in a game of naked Beach Boccie ball but it was to late in the day. If you live here you know when it is safe to do things outside. With all the rain and little wind the little blood suckers are out. We have been getting allot of rain and the big bugs are moving to high ground. Now don't get the vision of the ground covered with bugs it is not that bad. You just have to keep an eye out for them. I went out on the back porch and when i turn and came back in side a big water bug landed on my neck. I know you say it is only a water bug you sissy but the water bug here have some size to them and are called toe bitters, they can give a good bit. This one was 2-1/2 inches long by 1-1/4 wide. The other day here at the house a big scorpion drooped on a guys head and another guy had one in bed with him. So when it hit my neck i just new it was a scorpion. Thank god it was just a toe-bitter. The snakes don't like high water and so they move to high ground too. I was at a friends house, house sitting. I got up around 6am and took a seat on the couch and looked out the sliding glass door. Sitting on top of the blue chair on the porch was a baby boa. He was only about a 2 foot long. I went out and took some pics of him then moved hm were he was safe away from the house. Now with all the rain come drain problems. We went in to the bodega and found the roof dripping lots of water out of a crack in the concrete. The floor was soaked and we had to move some stuff out of the water to dry it out. The bad part is we don't know if it is from the roof drain being clogged or if something else is wrong. We cant get to the roof with the great looking new security gate that was put up by the owner. The bad thing is we are going to get more rain. So all we can do is see how much more water comes down the steps and thru the roof in the bodega. The rain is not all bad it fills our cisterns and raises the water table in the wells. Life her is fun and keeps you on your toes. You never know when a toe-bitter is around LOL

I do Love Xcalak and my friends here

Xcalak is such a nice place to live. Not much gos on here but that is what makes it so nice. Most everybody knows everybody. If you need something you ask and someone will know were and how to get it. Everyone tries to be nice to everyone. I work as a part time handyman here and I do love to help my friends and I make some money on the side. I work when I want and try to keep my friends and myself happy with the jobs I do. One of the best parts about the job is just spending time with my friends. I like the feeling I get from helping them. So thank you to all my friends in Xcalak for your friendship and the jobs. Xcalak is very small but very nice place to come. Everyone should check out life at the end of the road.

i am back

Sorry I have been out of town. I am back now with some great stories. I will have to wait to tell them. The time is not right. I still need to talk to some friends first. Here in Xcalak it is hot with very little wind. I have more work than time but life is good. Can anyone tell me were I have been by the pic

SNAKE!!!!!!

Well i was ask about the snake in my slide show. I walked out to our Jeep about a month ago. We were going to town I think. Well as I walked up to the back door there was this wire or vine sticking out by the rear tire. I started to grab it and yank it out but stop short. It was a snake. Now snakes don't bother me much. I have been catching snake for years. Now this snake did not care if I was there. He was not going to move till i made him. So you know me. I went and got my camera and took some pics. Then made him move on. when I got back from town I looked it up so I would know about them. Here is what i found.

About Mexican Vine Snake Vine snakes are very slender snakes, they resemble sticks or vines which helps them to stay camouflaged. They prey on lizards creeping up on them and injecting them with venom. They build dens underground and lay three to five eggs.

The Mexican Vine Snake (Oxybelis aeneus) is also known as the Brown Vine Snake. Although it is mildly venomous, it is not considered dangerous to humans. Because it lives in heavily forested and rainforest areas, it is in danger because of clearing of these forests.
Mexican Vine Snakes are very thin and are usually no bigger around than a pencil. They are excellent at camouflage as, true to their name, they resemble vines or sticks and are able to easily hide in trees. Vine snakes can range in size from 30-60 inches (76-152 cm) with an average length of 36-48 inches (91-122 cm). The scales of the snake are smooth and are arranged in 17 rows. They are brownish gray on the back and lighter on the underside, ranging in color from white at the tail to yellowish-green towards the head. There are often scattered markings of black and dark brown on the back. They have relatively large eyes that actually have round pupils, unlike the vertical slitted pupils of other snake species. Interesting Fact: Vine snakes have grooved fangs in the back of the mouth that are used to inject venom, unlike most venomous snakes with the typical hollow or retractable fangs in the front.
The primary food source for the Mexican Vine Snake appears to be lizards, which they actively hunt both on the ground and up into the trees. The snake will snag the lizard and stun it by injecting its poisonous venom. If a human is bitten by one of these snakes, however, the reaction is mild and usually only results in a small blister or reddened area and is not fatal. For smaller animals and reptiles, however, this poison results in total paralysis. Vine Snakes will also eat insects, frogs, and sometimes birds and small mammals.
